VAL D’ISERE – APRIL 2021
Val d’Isere is one of the most famous ski destinations in the world. This alpine playground in the heart of the French Alps offers some of the best skiing in the world.
Great skiing and fabulous apres ski. There’s a huge choice of shops where you can buy everything from local cheese and vintage wines to designer skiwear and fine art. The latest equipment is available to buy or rent from sports shops across the town. When hunger sets in there’s plenty to make your mouth water.
Restaurants are a major plus point in Val d’Isère. Whether you want a gourmet meal or a simple snack, you can eat extraordinarily well. Up the mountain, you have the choice of welcoming eateries that range from self-services with a sensibly-priced dish of the day, to gourmet restaurants serving exquisite regional and international cuisine. Back in town, the choice of dining opportunities is world class, with two Michelin-starred establishments leading the way.
After a short warm-up, La Face is best tackled first thing in the morning when it has been freshly groomed. It’s a real delight, but be aware that this run is only suitable for skiers who’ve reached a competent level of expertise. It’s most definitely not for beginners or low intermediates.
Val d’Isère offers a vast ski area with great snow and optimal weather conditions for skiing. Temperatures are regularly subzero during the day and/or at night during the entire winter season, as well as in April. This maintains snow cover, even without new snowfalls. The snow is always there!
